"This building is practical for it's location, but pretty much nothing else. It always smells bad, they don't let you wait in the lobby for anyone, the elevators are crap and the apartments look like pigs stys, very old and unmaintained... and way too expensive for it all. The only advantage apart from location is the penthouse, there's a swimming pool."

"I lived in this building for 3 months but left breaking my lease. Simply put, the people who run this building are crooks.
They especially prey on foreign students who do not know their rights. In fact, when I tried to advertise on the Concordia housing website to sublet it, Concordia wouldn't allow it, stating that 'this apartment is located in a building run by landlord that has been banned from using our service due to complaints made by students. We will be unable to post your ad on our website.'
I was not surprised and was simply happy that I was able to leave. Illegal practices include asking for last month's rent and charging $250 in 'administrative fees' to sublet. Yes, perhaps I could have tried to fight them but to be frank, I just wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP.
I urge people to stay away from this building. Not only is it way too expensive for the crappy, old apartments on offer but renters cannot expect any type of fairness from the administration."

"I lived in this building for six months and am so glad to be out! I'm fairly new to Montreal and was not aware of the law of automatic renewals. The renewal was due on a Friday, and I replied on Sunday stating I was moving out of the province and would not be renewing my lease. They would not accept even though was 2 days after, and the renewal was due on Friday. After many conversations I was able to leave with a $2000 penalty. I ensured that we had a contract written stating this was the penalty and was provided with a copy. After paying the penalty I was contacted with a demand for another $200 for parking- which was not part of the agreement. My boyfriend and I went to them to discuss and ask for a copy of this 'parking' agreement and she supplied it- they actually went to the trouble of plagerizing my signature for the additional monies. I highly recommend to stay far away from this building- they are not ethical people."

"This was my 1st stay at Chateau Lincoln. What they call an " Furnished alcove" is an adequate size and despite the apartment is not luxury, it has all of the necessary amenities (wifi, linen, housekeeper, kitchen...). The downtown location is perfect, especially if you don't have a car. There is a bus stop and a metro station (Concordia) at 3 minutes walk. Or you can walk like I did most of the time. So, if you are looking for a place to party during events or vacations, it's not the right spot and you will be probably kicked out the first night. What they call an acceptable noise level is actually pretty low, being myself warned soon after my arrival. Perhaps the only negative is that the exterior pool is closed during the winter period but the gym and the sauna are quiet and clean. The accommodation fulfilled my needs and budget and I just wanted to write a good review for those people.
